Volunteer

In the giving to others is the giving to self

Locally, Afya relies on a robust volunteer program to sort through donations. We are a valued resource for the NY metro community with over 3000 volunteers from schools, religious groups, and corporate partners passing through our warehouse doors to volunteer each year. Our volunteers are the last to touch these critical, life-saving medical supplies before they are put to use by medical professionals delivering frontline care. Every hour of service has a measurable impact on the lives of people in need.

Corporate

Afya invites corporations, departments and teams to save countless lives, without setting foot into a medical school! By partnering with Afya, your organization becomes an ambassador of global health during urgent or ongoing crises.

We offer an assortment of corporate give-back events, customized to meet social responsibility missions, engage employees, and elevate brands with tailored PR and marketing efforts.

If you are interested in considering Afya as your corporate volunteer partner please contact owen.condon@afyafoundation.org

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY Program

From the start, we made a commitment to seek out and include the cohorts of volunteers who are often excluded from traditional community volunteer placement. Afya provides occupational therapy and job readiness skills to at-risk populations, those with disabilities, and other vulnerabilities. Volunteers with cognitive, developmental and psychiatric disabilities have limited access to altruistic opportunities that help them engage in the betterment of others. Over 30 community-based organizations and schools that serve people with disabilities throughout the Greater New York area turn to Afya as their site of community service.
