In the past few years, medical sorting volunteer experiences have expanded to include elders at long-term care and assisted living facilities. These volunteers give back to global health and the response is significant.
During a recent sorting session, one elder was overheard saying, “I love this, it gives me a reason to live”.
Afya welcomes additional partners to broaden the scope of satellite sorting programs for elders living in facilities within the greater New York City area. Afya works closely with the facility to arrange the delivery and pick up of medical supplies, labeling and packing items and provides staff support via Occupational Therapy graduate student interns.
