Program Highlights:

What Afya has done Jan. – Sept. 2025

Southern California’s devastating wildfires

Afya activated within days to send 15 shipments of urgently needed supplies (e.g., medical masks, first aid kits, baby formula) by truck, rail, and air in partnership with JetBlue Airways to first responders and community organizations.

Donated items were valued at $800,000 and reached over 84,000 people.

Conflict in Ukraine

Afya sent 19 shipments of medical and humanitarian aid to numerous regions of the country, with a focus on rebuilding the healthcare sector and increasing the availability of rehabilitation services.

Since the invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Afya has shipped over 9M worth of aid and our commitment remains strong.

Women’s Healthcare in Puerto Rico

Afya delivered a full shipping container of $140,000 worth of critical medical equipment, feminine hygiene supplies and much more to a nonprofit clinic serving vulnerable women and children, LGBTQ+ communities, and survivors of domestic violence.

In May, Afya shipped hundreds of breast pumps to help mothers care for their babies while returning to work.

Community Safety Net in New York

Afya delivered 65 shipments to over 30 organizations in Westchester County so that they can provide life-saving and dignifying work, including YMCAs, Westchester Community Health Center, United Way, and many others.

Ebola outbreak in Democratic Republic of Congo

Afya, in partnership with Regeneron, is sending 40+ pallets of PPE to the remote Kasai Province of the Democratic Republic of Congo, where an outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus emerged in September. Afya knows that protecting these frontline workers isn’t just a moral imperative, it’s the cornerstone of any successful outbreak response.

Thousands of Volunteers

Over two thousand volunteers of all ages and abilities sorted rescued medical supplies and equipment for Afya’s programs from Yonkers to Tanzania to Myanmar. We empowered hundreds of young adults with autism and disabilities in Westchester County with hands-on vocational and social skills building.

NEW AND UPCOMING:
WHAT TO WATCH FOR AT AFYA

Humanitarian Aid to Gaza

Afya is collaborating with IsraAID, one of the few organizations approved to bring critical medical aid into Gaza. This Fall, we will also partner with NYU for volunteer sorting events to prepare medical, nutritional, and hygiene provisions for Gaza relief.

Bridging Gaps in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

Afya organized a shipment of wheelchairs to the Caribbean Island nation, supporting disaster preparedness and ensuring greater mobility for those most at risk.

Afya will send regular shipments of thousands more pounds of rescued medical supplies, including hurricane-season essentials, to fill gaps left by international aid funding cuts.

And, did you notice our new look this year? Afya rebranded! Our new logo features two interlinking hands, representing our care for both people and the planet.
