Since Russia’s full-scale invasion began on February 24th 2022, Ukraine’s healthcare system has been persistently undermined. Hospitals and clinics have been damaged or destroyed, supply chains disrupted, and healthcare workers continue to risk their lives to provide care. Millions of Ukrainians remain displaced or without reliable access to even basic medical services.
Ukraine is Afya’s longest and largest humanitarian response in our history. Over the past four years, we have delivered more than 125 shipments of medical aid, totaling over 500,000 pounds of supplies valued at more than $9 million, to hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, and frontline providers across the country.

$9MThe supplies we ship to the frontlines of Ukraine to restore access to healthcare and help communities recover from trauma are donated to us by hospitals in the Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA) network. Critically needed surgical instruments, trauma kits, surgical supplies, wound care, rehab equipment, PPE and much more are diverted from landfills and become lifelines during times of destruction.
Afya has established reliable partners and distribution networks in Ukraine across multiple regions, including Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, Dnipro, and Donetsk. Our partners include:
With Afya’s critical partnership, we have directly supported over 1 million people, ensuring access to mental health support, reproductive care, shelter, and legal assistance via our networks with local leaders, community organizations, and government agencies across Ukraine.

Although headlines may fade, the crisis in Ukraine continues. Missile and drone attacks still disrupt power grids, healthcare facilities, and everyday livelihoods. Civilians are sustaining complex injuries—amputations, spinal cord injuries, burns, and other life-altering conditions—that require long-term medical care and rehabilitation.
The Ukraine War Relief Fund allows Afya to:
Preparedness and consistency save lives. Your support ensures that Ukrainian healthcare workers have the tools they need, patients can recover with dignity, and communities can begin rebuilding their health systems—even amid ongoing conflict.
