Afya Welcomes Margaret Streicker, Alex Crisses, and Estefanía Montoya to Its Board of Directors

This year, Afya welcomed Margaret Streicker, Alex Crisses, and Estefanía Montoya to our Board of Directors. All bring exceptional professional accomplishments and longstanding commitments to philanthropy and community leadership. Their experience and passion will help advance Afya’s mission of improving global health outcomes by delivering rescued medical supplies and equipment to communities in need. 

Margaret Streicker  

Margaret Streicker is the Founder and President of Fortitude Capital, where she has led the asset repositioning of more than 150 properties across New York City and nationally, representing a combined asset valuation exceeding $1 billion. She also serves as an Adjunct Professor in Columbia University’s Graduate School of Real Estate Development and previously served for more than 12 years as a Trustee of the Jewish Museum of the City of New York. Her additional leadership roles include serving as a Trustee of Congregation Emanuel and the Connecticut Yankee Council of the Scouts of America, as well as active involvement in professional organizations such as the Young Presidents Organization (YPO). A graduate of Princeton University (A.B., summa cum laude), Margaret holds two master’s degrees from Columbia University in Architecture and Real Estate. 

Reflecting on her decision to join the board, Margaret shared, “Simply put, Danielle Butin is an inspiration! How can anyone not choose to jump in feet first when she’s standing there!” 

Alex Crisses 

Alex Crisses is a Managing Director at General Atlantic, based in the firm’s New York office. Alex leads General Atlantic’s Global New Investments and Heads the firms Emerging Technology Platform. He sits on the Boards of Benevity, Wellhub, HiBob, Incode, AppsFlyer, Atera Vi Labs, and Vast Data. Prior to joining General Atlantic in 2016, Alex was a Managing Director at Insight Venture Partners. Before joining Insight, he worked in investment banking at Credit Suisse, with a focus on energy and power. 

Alex has been an active member and former fundraising director for Minds Matter, a charity serving underprivileged high school students in New York City. He has served on the Young Leadership Committee for the New York City Police Foundation and New York City Sergeant’s Benevolent Association and on the Alumni Board of Harvard Business School. 

Alex has served as a member of Hospital for Special Surgery’s Board of Trustees, Pediatric Council and as a Co-Chair of the Hospital’s annual pediatric benefit. 

Alex holds a BS in economics from The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He earned an MBA from Harvard Business School where he was a Baker Scholar. 

Estefanía Montoya  

Estefanía Montoya is a global health professional, nonprofit leader, and business strategist with experience building and strengthening mission-driven organizations across Latin America and the United States. She began her career with the International Planned Parenthood Federation in New York, supporting global health programs and grant operations, and later worked with nonprofit organizations focused on poverty alleviation, youth development, and community well-being.  

In addition to her nonprofit work, Estefanía is the founder and CEO of Amity OBM, where she serves as a fractional COO helping mission-driven organizations strengthen their operational systems, governance, and strategic execution. Her work focuses on aligning people, processes, and strategy to help organizations scale their impact sustainably. Estefanía holds a Master of Public Health from Universidad del Norte and a bachelor’s degree in International Affairs from The George Washington University. She has served on several nonprofit boards and is committed to advancing organizations that expand access to health, education, and resources for underserved communities.
