Your support is helping Afya respond to the Ebola outbreak
Afya is mobilizing urgently needed medical supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE) to support healthcare workers responding to the growing Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak in Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and beyond declared in May 2026 by the World Health Organization (WHO).
For nearly two decades, Afya has responded to disease outbreaks, natural disasters, conflict, and humanitarian emergencies around the world. During the 2014-2016 Ebola epidemic in West Africa, we witnessed how quickly healthcare systems can become overwhelmed and how critical it is to protect frontline healthcare workers.
Today, we are once again working to get protective equipment and essential medical supplies into the hands of those risking their lives to care for others.
Your support helps make that response possible.
Our Approach
Afya responds to global health emergencies by delivering critical medical supplies and equipment to hospitals and health facilities serving communities in crisis.
Our current Ebola response is focused on helping healthcare workers access the protective equipment they need to safely care for patients and help contain the spread of disease.
We work in close collaboration with:
- Local ministries of health
- Hospitals and frontline health care providers
- Trusted partners on the ground
These partnerships allow us to identify urgent needs, move quickly, and ensure supplies reach the facilities where they can have the greatest impact.
Why Your Support Matters
Healthcare workers are the first line of defense during an outbreak.
Without adequate protective equipment, they face significantly higher risks of infection while caring for patients. When healthcare workers become sick, the impact extends far beyond a single disease outbreak. Clinics close, essential services are disrupted, and entire communities lose access to care.
By supporting Afya’s Disaster Response Fund, you help us:
- Deliver PPE and critical medical supplies to healthcare workers responding to Ebola
- Respond immediately to emerging health emergencies
- Support crises that receive limited global attention
- Strengthen healthcare systems under pressure
- Prepare for future disasters before they happen
Donate today and help protect healthcare workers and stop the spread of Ebola.
