The Ebola outbreak in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo is evolving rapidly. With no approved vaccine or proven treatment for this strain of the virus, healthcare workers are risking their lives as they work to protect their communities and contain the spread of the disease.
Doctors, nurses, and frontline responders are caring for patients without the PPE they need to stay safe. When healthcare workers become sick, entire communities suffer. Clinics close. Essential services disappear. Outbreaks spread faster.
On June 23rd, join Danielle Butin, Founder and CEO of Afya, and Afya’s leadership team for a live virtual Town Hall to hear directly from those coordinating response efforts, learn what healthcare workers are facing on the ground, and understand why many experts believe this outbreak could become a large and prolonged public health challenge.
For nearly two decades, Afya has responded to disasters, disease outbreaks, wars, and humanitarian emergencies around the world.
Today, we are partnering with hospitals and healthcare institutions across New York to rescue surplus PPE and medical supplies and rapidly deploy them to healthcare workers responding to the Ebola outbreak.
In the absence of an approved vaccine or proven treatment for this strain of Ebola, PPE remains one of the most effective tools available to protect healthcare workers in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda and help contain the spread of disease.
Join us to hear the latest developments from the outbreak response and gain a deeper understanding of how healthcare workers, healthcare systems, and communities are being affected. Participants will learn:
Danielle Butin, Founder and CEO Afya
Heather Clark, Chief Program Officer, Afya
David Bourns, Chief Operations Officer, Afya
