Today marks four years since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. For four years, Ukraine’s healthcare system has endured relentless attacks—hospitals damaged or destroyed, power grids targeted, and healthcare workers risking their lives to care for the injured.
And for four years, Afya has stood with Ukraine.
Since the earliest days of the war, Afya has delivered more than 125 shipments of lifesaving medical aid—over 500,000 pounds of supplies valued at more than $9 million—to hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, and frontline providers at no cost to those who need them. We rescued these surplus medical supplies from hospitals in the New York area, where they may have been landfilled or incinerated. And, instead, they are touching the lives of 1 million people in Ukraine.
At Afya, we provide urgent life-saving relief and protect the environment.
The crisis is not over. Missile and drone attacks continue to disrupt healthcare facilities and daily life. Civilians are living with amputations, spinal cord injuries, burns, and other life-altering conditions that require long-term care and recovery support.
Four years into this war, consistent relief saves lives.
Your gift to the Ukraine Relief Fund allows Afya to sustain uninterrupted medical shipments, respond immediately when hospitals are damaged, expand access to long-term rehabilitation care, and strengthen healthcare infrastructure for recovery.
