Afya was quick in our response to this Hurricane, we delivered an EKG, defibrillators, blood pressure setups, pulse oximeters, otoscopes, ophthalmoscopes, and a large amount of luggage for life bags filled with consumable supplies requested. Additionally, Afya delivered 3000 vials of insulin to the Pediatric and Adult Diabetes Association of Puerto Rico.

With the support of Airlink and JDC, Afya delivered 4,393 pounds of humanitarian supplies, including suture sets, medical provisions, and materials to treat water-borne diseases caused by flooding. 11 pallets of supplies were airlifted to address injuries and illnesses common in environmental crises and displacement.

Afya quickly delivered 10 shipments of life-saving medical supplies to partners in the disaster zone. Partnering with Anera after the port explosion, Afya provided medical supplies and PPE. Later, Afya sent four containers of PPE, including hundreds of thousands of face masks, shields, and gowns, to healthcare workers at LAU and AUBMC in Lebanon.

Afya initially sent three large shipments of PPE and other medical supplies and equipment to three Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) in Texas to aid in recovery from Hurricane Laura, including East Texas Community Health Services, Inc., Central Texas Community Health Center, and Legacy Community Health Services. Another 4 shipments were delivered after that.

We responded with shipments of PPE like gowns, face shields, gloves, and masks; wound care supplies such as gauze, bandages, splints, stabilizers, and sutures; surgical supplies; and IV starter kits. In total, more than $1.6 million worth of lifesaving medical supplies were distributed throughout the affected areas.

Afya sent two shipments in response to the Maui wildfires, totaling 8,515 lbs. and valued at $52,000. The shipments included cots, adult diapers, CPAP machines, and durable medical equipment. Mauna Medics received the first 5 pallets of cots and wheelchairs, while Adaptive Maui received 20 pallets of DME for shelter victims.

Afya responded to the devastating explosion in the Dominican Republic by sending 26 LFL bags via JetBlue, weighing 1,202 pounds and valued at $18,114. In partnership with Hospital Juan Pablo Pina, Fearsage, and Jompeame, we provided gloves, bandages, gauze, DME (wheelchairs, walkers, canes), PPE, hygiene kits, surgical supplies, and wound care items.

Valued at $62,557, this shipment supported the Ethiopian Jewish community through the partnership with Struggling to Save Ethiopian Jews and Airlink, Afya's airfreight partner.
