it’s natural to have questions!  After all, the Afya Foundation doesn’t do just ONE thing.  Afya RESCUES, SORTS, and DELIVERS life-saving medical supplies, equipment, and humanitarian goods to help those in need around the world.  Afya’s work intersects with US Hospital administrators, volunteer, religious and other community organizations, hospitals and clinics abroad, shippers, transportation and logistical professionals, NGOs, government representatives and much more!  Afya offers many rewarding opportunities to get involved – check them out!

What Does Afya Mean?

When is Afya Open?
Drop Off Donations: Monday – Friday; 9 AM –  4 PM
Volunteer: Monday – Friday 9 AM  – 4:30 PM
Where is Afya?
40 Saw Mill River Road in Yonkers, NY. We are on the 2nd Floor!
I have supplies I’d like to donate, how can I do this?

Keep a list of the items you’re donating to us for your tax records.  If dropping off at Afya, please call ahead to make sure someone is here to help you unload your vehicle. (914) 920-5081
You can either bring the supplies upstairs or someone will help you unload at our loading dock.

 

Do you accept medications?
We only accept over the counter medications.  For example: vitamins, aspirin, cough medication, etc.

 

Do you accept expired supplies?
We do not accept expired supplies.  Here is a link to the Acceptable Supplies Page.

 

Why can’t you accept expired supplies?
Unfortunately, we cannot accept expired supplies. These items cannot be shipped because they won’t clear customs internationally.

 

Do you pickup donations?
Our truck is only available to pickup from hospitals, large facilities, clinicians’ offices and individuals who have hospital beds to donate.  There is a fee of $100/pickup. (Contact and phone for pickup). Generally we schedule a bed pickup 3 weeks in advance.

 

Is Afya a registered 501c3? Will I get a donation receipt for my donation?
Yes, we are!  EIN: 26-1300361

 

Why is there so much waste?
The US has significant regulations in place that require those supplies, exposed to a patients medical field, to be discarded (regardless of sterility or use). We also live in an advanced technological society where equipment is updated and innovated steadily. This innovation creates an enormous opportunity for rescue.

Can I travel or take a trip with you?
Afya supports the infrastructure of existing health clinics and we travel infrequently. On occasion, we will organize trips with donor
